Rebuilding Fragments, An Alternative SOS Facility

Speculative Environments

Supervisor - Mr. Tiah Nan Chyuan

Suicide is often a taboo topic as it is sensitive and personal. For suicidal individuals, the need to remain anonymous and having 24 hours access to support is critical. Therefore, the thesis attempts to address the shortfalls in suicide treatment by conventional institutions by proposing an alternative facility concealed within the premises of Changi Airport Terminal 2. The ‘alternative SOS’ explores the notion of Architecture as therapy by introducing unique ‘treatment facilities’ split between the landside and the airside of the airport.
