The Axis

Speculative Environments

Supervisor - Dr. Stephen Lau

The thesis explores the possibility of introducing a new building typology that facilitates the concept of mobility. Road infrastructure accounts for 12% of Singapore’s precious land space. Built upon an initial question of “What are the roles and possibilities that technology could offer towards architecture in the future?”. Road infrastructure accounts for 12% of Singapore’s precious land space and the thesis speculates that if buildings and roads are not seen as separate entities but instead forms a continuous network of connectivity which integrates with the building. There is a potential of creating an additional layer of connectivity, communication and interaction throughout.
