The Kasuti Collective

Speculative Environments

Supervisor - Mr. Tomohisa Miyauchi

Bangalore’s rapid growth with the advent of its tech industry has exacerbated its socioeconomic gap as well as inequality in the access to urban space. This project focuses on Bangalore’s CBD, MG Road and Trinity Circle, seeking to address the local issues of street dwelling/working children, residual space mismanagement and lack of open public space. Inspired by traditional kasuti embroidery, the proposed modular infill system taps on existing car-centric, underused and infrastructural leftover spaces to provide a common physical platform for gathering and organising social welfare (manpower/resources) as well as fostering community through sharing of knowledge and physical space.
