Performative Design

Supervisor - Dr. Rudi Stouffs

The thesis project investigates the pressing issue of high density, mid-rise developments in Asian cities. Unlike common typologies of repeating floorplans stacking up to high-rise skyscrapers, the project aims to introduce a new typology that is affordable, dense, and located in the city centre. It is aiming to seek a solution to the mismatch between employment density and residential density due to modernist planning, which put residential and commercial districts away from each othe. The project is in Singapore Central Business District, employing the lifestyle of co-housing, targeting people of all age group and in any family condition.
