Urban Commons and Wellness

Supervisor - Dr. Zhang Ye

This thesis is an exploration of an alternative to bridging Hong Kong and mainland China, with Lok Ma Chau innovation hub as new urban commons to build an open community and a new identity beyond the territorial demarcation. It leverages “one country, two systems” framework as a proposal to pro-act to the “Year 2047 Problem”, to build up trust for the coming future. The proposed innovation hub consists of three main programs; it redefines border-crossing facilities, and is built upon electronic waste recycling, and a co-operative for innovative work and leisure experience. It creates opportunities for people from both sides to come together and interact, as an effort to heal the divided society.
