Islandness | New beginnings of water edges

Atmosphere and Agency

Supervisor - Mr. Oscar Carracedo

The thesis re-imagines new landforms in preparation for imminent flooding in 2050, to relocate and adapt the affected Southern Khulna city population to a sustainable and self-sufficient island living model, changing people’s preparedness and perception of living with water. Separated from the rest of the system by floodwater, the island living model is a more efficient use of land and the three architectural prototypes serve as both a functional machine and living space, accepting and integrating water along three different edge conditions to generate clean water and clean energy that will support the future population increase along the water edges.
