Film is an important part of human life. Started as a mere form of enterntainment, film has developed as a cultural artifact to transfer ideas, support agendas, and also contribute to the economy as an industry. In response to the state of film industry in Indonesia that is monopolized by commercial movies, the thesis project explores ways of bypassing the current film industry ecosystem to support the marginalized independent films and the filmmakers to gain larger audiences. The project is situated in Kota Tua, Jakarta, congregating the businesses and artists as part of a new ecosystem for independent film industry in Jakarta, along with a mission of urban revitalization to the decaying area.
