Ethereal Momentum
Atmosphere and Agency
Supervisor - Mr. Tsuto Sakamoto
Interplanetary habitation to preserve and prolong humankind is a dire and eventual need. Ethereal Momentum envisions a permanent habitation on the Moon in the not-so-distant future. By normalizing the effects of prolonged habitation outside of Earth’s atmosphere, anthropometric changes in the human form is speculated. The thesis develops as a search for a Lunar Vernacular with the new changes. Focusing primarily on the lack of gravity and the movement of the human body, the thesis explores a possibility of lunar habitation. Giving new definition to the way spaces are navigated, Ethereal Momentum generates a new aesthetic - the Lunar Vernacular.
