Disaster Resiliency: Preparing an Existing Condition for Extreme Climate

The thesis investigates into the impacts of extreme weather condition in Singapore and seeks to prepare an existing condition for such potentially disastrous state. Part of a criticism that surrounds the neglected state of existing conditions against worsening climatic conditions, the thesis studies into and then proposes several strategies on the urban and architectural scale in Bugis and on Bras Basah Complex, respectively. These strategies focuses on the creation of a Sponge City (Urban Scale) and Encouraging Natural Ventilation, Increment of Shade and Meeting Demands of Energy Consumption (Architecture) in order to be resilient for the next 50 years and beyond.
