回 is an interpretation of the ethnic Hui cultural park masterplan in Quanzhou driven by their intrigue of dome building as a quixotic attempt to make sense of their paradoxical identity in between Han and Hui. The new urban connection stitches the ancient village, industrial zones and new developments together while harkening to 2 eternal elements of the site; the salt flats of their origins and the stone mountain cemeteries of belonging. While the connection is both a pilgrimage and a tourist arcade, the programme is governed by seasonal festivals and fellowship practices. As the visitor partakes, they experience the ideals and utopic visions of the hui community as an authentic experience.
