Wet-land: Land-water binary

Speculative Design

Supervisor - Mr. Stephen Lau

Land-Sea Binary is a project of research-driven defense strategies in coastal environment. The site for the thesis is a controversial oceanic/ continental condition that currently exists in Asia, a wetland of Jiading district. The site is not only a testing ground for the grand idea of blurring land-sea boundaries. Substantial studies on artificial coast protection and barrier islands, which could then be manifested in to design solutions to rekindle the connection between us and the sea. By advocating the oceanic and archipelago mode of living into coastal inhabitants, this project seeks to relieve the malaise of rising water level.
