Fish Hanger
Speculative Environments
Supervisor - Mr. Cheah Kok Ming
Singapore’s food consumption depends heavily on food imports, ranging from livestock, fruits & vegetables and staple foods. She produce less then 10% of consumption through traditional, less effective farming methods.
The increasing global demand of fin fish along with the declining wild fish stocks calls for an alternate source of fish, Therefore, aquaculture have been playing a vital role in the supply of fish globally. However, in Singapore, local production within sea and land-based farms are unable to keep up with local demands due to spatial and ecological limitations.
This thesis explores the processes, technology, business model and typology which would enable large scale production of fin fish to provide for 100% of Singapore’s annual consumption.
